Electrify Your Water!

Adding electrolytes to water to support our electro-chemical processes and protect against Crohn's disease.

Why supplement your water with electrolytes?

Electrolytes are of critical importance to healthy bodily functions. Without them we would simply not be alive as many essential body processes such as cardiac and brain functions, and nerve impulses, are electrical in nature. They are also used by the body to neutralise acidic ash residues from digestion of too much acidic food so are important when it comes to healing from Crohn’s disease.

But what are electrolytes? Where do we get them from? And how can we increase our levels of electrolytes if we are deficient?

To answer this I’m going to suggest you watch the following short video (80 seconds) by Dr. Berg on YouTube. It’s quite an eye-opener.

That’s quite a powerful video clearly demonstrating how, without electrolytes, we are quite literally ‘powerless’. It also shows that if we are to distil our water we must either supplement it with electrolytes or carefully monitor our food intake to ensure we are obtaining adequate levels.

How to add electrolytes

It’s really simple as there are plenty of ways to purchase electrolytes that can then be poured or scooped into your drinking water. Natural options are also easy such as adding lemon juice and a pinch of salt to your water. You may wish to purchase electrolyte powder or just add a spoonful of sodium bicarbonate to your water. Having read The Acid Alkaline Food Guide, The pH Miracle and watched numerous videos with one of the authors of the latter, Robert Young, I chose to add a range of electrolytes to my drinking water and regularly test my urine to ensure my body has a better acid/alkaline balance.
